Nutritional Therapy combines science with naturopathy in order to return you to a state of good health and maximize your health potential.
Nutritional Therapy is designed to treat your body as a whole, addressing the causes of problems rather than treating or suppressing symptoms.
Following an initial assessment of your health and nutrition requirements I will recommend changes you can make to your diet and together we will agree an action plan.
An appropriate supplement regime may also be agreed if required.
Why use nutritional therapy?
Some people simply want to check that they are on the right track with regard to healthy eating. Others may want to lose weight or get help with their symptoms or a medical complaint.
I recognise that each person is an individual with unique requirements. Nutrition plans are always personalised rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
Nutrition and lifestyle approaches to healthcare have been shown to support the health of all the major systems of the body. Typical priorities in nutritional therapy consultations are to achieve:
- Optimum energy levels
- Optimum gastrointestinal health
- Healthy blood sugar balance
- A reduction in pain or inflammation
- Healthy hormone balance e.g. reduce PMS, menopause symptoms
- An improvement in skin conditions
- A healthy cardiovascular system
- Tolerance to a broad range of food groups.
What happens in a consultation?
Before the consultation you will be asked to complete a questionnaire which forms the basis to analysis. This covers:
- Your dietary and nutritional intake
- Detailed health and family case history
An initial consultation will last an hour and a half during which we will discuss and expand upon the questionnaire. I will advise of any potential underlying causes of the health problems and form a strategy to address these problems. A tailor made action plan including personalised advice for diet and lifestyle changes will then be agreed.
It is recommended to have at least one follow up appointment to progress with the healing strategy and discuss any problems.
Coaching and support is provided throughout the process to help you make the diet and lifestyle changes required to restore your health and well being.
